The Green Café: The Rose Family: Rosaceae

Eric Larson, coordinator of the Marsh Garden where Green Cafés are held, brought us his love of roses.  And apparently “Every rose doesn’t have a thorn” as we learned that thorns are in fact modified branches.  The sharp protrusions from roses are modified hairs making them prickles.  We enjoyed a walk around the garden and a sweet frozen rose water treat.  For more information on the topic please watch the full length video of the presentation on our Youtube channel “The Green Café at Yale” at
