The Green Café: The Rose Family: Rosaceae

June 2, 2016

Presented by Eric Larson of Marsh Gardens.

Eric Larson, coordinator of the Marsh Garden where Green Cafés are held, brought us his love of roses.  And apparently “Every rose doesn’t have a thorn” as we learned that thorns are in fact modified branches.  The sharp protrusions from roses are modified hairs making them prickles.  We enjoyed a walk around the garden and a sweet frozen rose water treat.  For more information on the topic please watch the full length video of the presentation on our Youtube channel “The Green Café at Yale” at https://youtu.be/tkstVRvqcGs
